It is our practice in Eshwara Peetam to take a festival from our Sanathana Dharma and celebrate it as our annual celebrations. Accordingly our Guruji adviced us to celebrate Maha Sivarathri this year.
It was a two day celebration. First day the programme was conducted in G.K.Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya , Ambattur and the second day it was at Satsangam Hall , Ambattur.
The programme began on 6/3/16 with the lighting of lamp by Smt. Tharani Raghunathan followed by a dance recital by students of Kanchi Kamakoti Natyalaya.Rama Nama was chanted by disciples of Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamigal. A video message of Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamigal specially recorded for this occasionwas also played. After that Thiruvasaga Mutrodhal by Thiruvasaga Siddhar Thirukazhukundram Siva Damodharan Iyya started and went on till the evening. Our beloved Pazhani Patti Smt Rajam Ammal also was present throughout the day and blessed the devotees.Thousands of devotees came for hearing his divine recital and many were dancing and singing in ecstacy. The whole place became Booloka Kailasam. In the evening Pradhosham pooja was performed in a temporary temple built for the occasion.
On 7/3/16 Sivarathri day the programme began in the evening with the procession of Lord Somaskandha with Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu from Atmanadha Swami temple, Menabedu accompanied by the Kailaya Vadhyam of Kosainagaran Kailaya Vadhiya Kuzhu. Smt. Sakambari Raji and her Amritavarshini Carnatic music school then gave a soul stirring Bhajan which was joined by all devotees present.Raaj Paresh Baba and his Babanjali Temple of Arts made everyone dance along with them to all the songs they danced. The volunteers of Eshwara Peetam also did a beautiful namasankeerthanam for nearly 1 hour. They had trained for just one month and sang as if they were professional singers. Each song touched everyones heart. As usual our programme is not complete without the discourses of Sivalogam Divakar Iyya and our guruji Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamiji. Divakar Iyya gave a discourse on the importance of Sivarathri and he also sang a few songs. Swamiji also spoke about the importance of Nama Japa.
Abhishekam was performed on all the four kalams and prasadham was given to the devotees.
